Getting Started

Taking the first step toward therapy or consultation can feel overwhelming, whether you are looking for individual support for your child or teen, or exploring one of our specialized therapy groups. Getting started here is simple, gentle, and entirely on your terms. Please take your time navigating this website, our Psychology Today profile, and our social media. We want you to get a true feel for the energy, approach, & style Thrive Collective by Tapia brings to this work. Absorb it all, process it, and sleep on it as long as you need. We are right here whenever you feel ready. Here is what our process looks like:

Complete Digital Intake

Our First Session

Send an email to schedule a free 15 minute phone or video consultation. This is a low-pressure, friendly opportunity for us to say hello, chat about needs, answer initial questions, & analyze our fit. Your child is welcome to hop on the final portion of the call!

If we decide to move forward together, you will receive a link to our secure client portal. You can easily complete initial consent forms, paperwork, and practice policies before our first scheduled meeting.

Every client comes with unique needs, strengths, & personal experiences that will shape our time together. When working with children & teens, parent collaboration is beneficial when it's guided by your child's openness and readiness. I deeply respect privacy & autonomy while honoring the power of support. Together, we can plan and schedule joint sessions or parent check-ins to monitor progress, align strategies, & ensure consistent support.

Ongoing Therapeutic Journey

For child & adolescent therapy, we break this into two thoughtful steps: a dedicated parent/guardian session to talk through history, challenges, & goals. Then a 1:1 child/teen session focused on building trust, utilizing play/conversation to explore perspectives, & establishing comfort and safety. For adult therapy & clinical supervision, we deep dive into history, goals, strengths, & visions for our time together. Supervision plans are completely customizable based on your needs and timeline.

Ready for your child to build a deeper love for themselves & the world around them?

Our intake process is straightforward and gentle, so you always know what to expect and never have to navigate it alone.

A Note for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Families: Due to NASW professional codes of ethics regarding conflicts of interest, we are unfortunately unable to offer private practice services to children, teens, or families currently enrolled within Chicago Public Schools (CPS). We know how important finding the right fit is for your child, and if this applies to your family, we are always happy to help connect you with trusted external practices and community resources.
